Romney’s Past Cruelties Extend Beyond Animal Abuse

Via:- Don Hamel

The Washington Post today tells a story that opens on a scene that’s almost cinematic in its beauty; Cranbrook Prep School, Michigan in springtime. It is, by all accounts, a beautiful campus befitting the status of its privileged student body. Cranbrook boasts many wealthy and powerful alumni, including Mitt Romney, whose father was then the Governor of Michigan.

Many of Romney’s friends from his school days paint him as a ‘prankster’ and his wife Ann publicly gushes over what a, “Wild and crazy man” she fell in love with during her days at Cranbrook’s ’sister school,’ Kingswood. But some of his schoolmates don’t remember him quite as endearing. There are stories of institutional racism and faculty endorsed homophobia, that seem almost commonplace in stories of prep-schools of the era.

But far more troubling than hurtful nick-names or sophomoric cat-calls is the story of Jon Lauber. Lauber was a year behind Romney, and described as “soft-spoken,” although that’s perhaps due to his being, “teased for his non-conformity and presumed homosexuality.”

We call that ‘bullying’ nowadays.

At any rate Jon Lauber fell victim to young Mitt’s ire when he returned to campus after school break with his hair dyed blonde and hanging down over one eye. Romney reportedly told his best friend, “He can’t look like that. That’s wrong. Just look at him!” Romney’s anger over another boys haircut didn’t subside over time, and three days later he recruited a group of boys and went after Jon Lauber, he of the offending locks.

What happened next was cruel, brutal and public. At least five former students confirm the story of Mitt Romney and a gang of friends attacking Lauber, wrestling him to the floor and hacking his hair off with a scissors. It was an incident that stayed with Lauber (now deceased) his entire life.

There are further recollections of Romney’s cruel treatment of an elderly teacher, and more homophobic japes, but his outrage and subsequent attack of Jon Lauber stands out in its hatefullness. What a senseless, unnecessary reaction to something that was clearly of no concern to him.

There will be those who will instantly dismiss this as an example of a ’boys will be boys’ type indiscretion. But Mitt Romney’s seeming revulsion over someone he perceived as different, coupled with the his actions to punish the boy, paint a picture of a person with little empathy or concern; the kind of person who could thoughtlessly strap an animal to the roof of a car and drive hundreds of miles. It is no wonder that man like that, who never needed to work a day in his life, furthered his personal fortune by dismantling the businesses and jobs of thousands of others.

The American people need someone who can understand and empathize with the difficulties many of us face, Mitt Romney is clearly not capable of being that man.

Bird Brain Sarah Palin Might Run For President Because Of Raging Non-Limbaugh Misogynists

Thanks to:- Liz Colville

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sarah Palin went on — or should we say, was transmitted through someone’s phone-toy in the direction of — CNN during Tuesday’s Super Snoozeday parade, and proclaimed that who knows whether she’ll run for president today, tomorrow, or after the Mayan apocalypse, but anything is possible because Americans can do anything they put their minds to, emphasis on “minds” and excluding jobs. Later on, while Romney was disappointing America, CNN spent a good portion of the long process of cell degeneration we call life talking about Palin some more, with what little comprehensible English was made available by her mouth yesterday. Conclusion: Sarah Palin is an alive person. Plus, hates misogynists as long as they are liberal.

Seeing as Election 2012 is like a very long airplane ride from which there is no escape and very poor in-flight entertainment or food, we may as well delve into this one-inch-deep story, as we delve into movies like “What’s Your Number?” or “The Help” when they are the only ones Delta is allowing us to see tinily through our dehydrated Brut goggles.

Disregarding the fact that if nobody asked Sarah Palin if she’ll run for president, she probably never would (trees falling in forests and all that), Palin Tuesday responded to CNN’s deeply unoriginal question by saying:

As I say, anything is possible. And I don’t close any doors that perhaps would be open out there. So, no, I wouldn’t close that door. And my plan is to be at that convention.

Here’s a video, with Sarah looking very mineral powdery and happy-angry.

The subplot of this family fun is that Sarah Palin was not excited about Barack Obama pandering to tears with his “I made a phone call to Sandra Fluke” comment. Mr. Man said he felt for Fluke re: Limbaugh because he has daughters or something. So Palin released a statement telling Obama to return the money that Bill Maher (a “rabid misogynist,” according to Palin, because he once called her a “c—,” which, yes, that was too bad) donated to one of Obama’s super PACs to the tune of one million dollars. Anyway, linking to FOX NOOSE for this only to show everybody that the Fox website has been redesigned to look like the Constitution.

Palin closed out the iPhone clip with these words, directed at CNN, which sum up everything nicely:

Gingrich Promises Presidential Commission On Ending The Separation Of Church/State

Catholic Crusader Newt Gingrich has published a document vowing that “on Day One” of his presidency he will create a commission to investigate any attempt to enforce the separation of church and state. He also promises that he will thwart any attempt to stop the religious bullying of LGBT students.

Effectively, Gingrich is saying that he endorses the right of Christians to express “their conscience” and harass, threaten, bully, and beat LGBT kids if God says they should.

Gingrich: I’ll Force Women to Bear Rapists’ Babies

The Republican Party’s monstrous anti-choice positions
Via:- Charles Johnson

If anyone ever asks again why I left … no, ran away from the right, here’s one of the main reasons: the utter heartlessness of a party so morally bankrupt that it would force women to bear the babies of rapists and incestuous family members. Gingrich: I ‘Wouldn’t Make Exceptions’ For Abortions In Cases Of Rape Or Incest.

With Gingrich now changing his previously stated views, the majority of the Republican candidates for President are onboard with this monstrous position — a position not arrived at through reason or rationality, but through religious fanaticism. Bad craziness indeed.

Female Soldier A “Slut” Who Deserved It, Haredi Man Claims

Doron Matalon, a female soldier who tried to sit at the front of a public bus last week and who would not move to the back when Shlomo Fuchs told her to, deserved it, Fuchs reportedly said today. “She stood amidst the ultra-Orthodox men,” Fuchs said. “It’s the most  basic concept: A woman should not stand amidst men, just like no woman  would go into a man’s bathroom. So I called her a slut.”

For many haredim, a woman’s place may not be exclusively in the kitchen and the bedroom, but it certainly isn’t at the front of a public bus – especially if she dares to open her mouth to defend another woman being harassed by a haredi male.

Shlomo Fuchs, a haredi man arrested last week for harassing Doron Matalon, a female soldier who tried to sit at the front of one such bus and who would not move to the back when Fuchs asked her to, now says Matalon deserved to be harassed because she intervened in argument Fuchs was having with another woman, Fuchs told Ynet today.

And even if he she hadn’t done that, according to Fuchs she deserved to be harassed anyway because she acted like a “slut.”

“She stood amidst the ultra-Orthodox men,” Fuchs said. “It’s the most basic concenpt: A woman should not stand amidst men, just like no woman would go into a man’s bathroom. So I called her a slut.”

Fuchs, who claims he only saw Matalon’s head but not the rest of her body, described the incident this way:

…He was traveling from his home in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood [of Jerusalem] to a yeshiva in [the Jerusalem haredi neighborhood of] Mea Shearim last Tuesday when “some Russian woman stood by the men’s seats at the front of the bus.”
“I told her: ‘Lady, you don’t have to present a ticket if you have a monthly pass.’ She said, ‘Thank you very much, sir.’ Suddenly I heard someone from the center of the bus saying, ‘She’ll stand wherever she pleases.’ So I answered ‘What business is it of yours?’ I couldn’t see who was speaking, because the bus was full. I only heard her voice. I didn’t see it was a soldier. I could only make out her head, and I yelled ‘slut.’”
At this point, Fuchs claimed, Matalon said “Look at you; parasite; parasites, taking money from the State. I protect you.”
“She protects me? I sit at shul from eight in the morning till midnight and study, and she’s protecting me? I protect her,” the ultra-Orthodox man told Ynet. “I understood who I was dealing with, so I went back to studying for my test and things calmed down.”
However, Fuchs said, Matalon continued to argue. According to him, she said “these haredim do what they want. We will bring an end to it. Take him to the police.”
Fuchs claimed he was not aware of the significance of the word “slut” in the secular world. “I am completely detached from the (secular world). I don’t own a television set and I never have newspapers in the house. People laughed at me because I don’t have any idea what women’s exclusion is and don’t know what happened in Beit Shemesh,” he said.
“I do not forgive (Matalon). She cannot give me the hours of studying that I lost; she cannot take away the fear that I have when I go out to the street. She shamed us all and made us out to be criminals,” Fuchs said.
He claimed Israel Police had deliberately assigned female investigators to handle his case. “I always thought police were supposed to protect me, but I will never forgive them for the nightmare they made me go through. Yes, they harassed me only because I am haredi,” Fuchs said. “This is a blood libel.”
Asked about the controversial Holocaust display at a recent ultra-Orthodox rally in the capital, Fuchs said, “I sympathize with these feelings of persecution. They tried to present me as though I were the worst criminal in the world, and from this perspective it is just like the goyim treated the Jews for generations.
“Let me live in peace. I too sang “Hatikva” (national anthem) once. I want to be free in our land. Leave me be.”

Ynet also reports that two female passengers on the bus, almost certainly haredi, claim Matalon was not the female soldier involved in the incident because the soldier involved “does not fit Matalon’s description.”
